New intranet portal for US EPA launched by Systalex

Systalex Corp, an information and IT solutions provider, announced on Thursday (22 February) the successful launch of the initial phase of a new Purchase Card Intranet website for the US Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Office of Acquisition Management (OAM).

The OAM is understood to create contract documents, collect data for reporting purposes and meet the needs of the EPA's acquisition community throughout the procurement cycle. The automated systems are used by all EPA contracting offices and are deployed in twelve locations with a need to expand that system to EPA labs not currently supported by the OAM systems.

According to the company, the complete project consists of two phases. During the first phase, Systalex has created the basic structure of the new functionality and replaced the legacy site. In order to design, develop and implement the Purchase Card Program website, Systalex used Open Source software and tools as required by OAM, including Apache HTTP Web Server, MySQL Database, PHP Web Development Scripting Language, Drupal Content Management Framework, Database Application Accessibility, and communications management using e-mail listservs.

The second phase of the project, which adds functionality over and above the current website, is ongoing and is expected to launch later in Q1 2007. No financial details were disclosed.
