Xerox's knowledge sharing portal tames its internet-sized intranet.

Xerox needed a way to organize and streamline its current large intranet, while at the same time providing employees with the ability to find and share corporate knowledge quickly and easily. It decided to build its own corporate portal running on top of the current intranet, designing its own personalization and security features as it went. The portal has been in production, in several iterations, since late last year.

Motivation:

Xerox' s current intranet was huge and difficult to navigate. The company had no formal policy in place to allow employees around the globe to share corporate knowledge orto.
